White House Pushing For $600 Stimulus Payments: Report
The Trump administration is reportedly pushing senior GOP lawmakers to include direct payments to Americans in the latest virus relief bill.

WASHINGTON, DC — As members of Congress continue to debate the details of a new proposed COVID-19 relief package, President Donald Trump and his administration are reportedly pushing GOP leaders to include $600 direct payments to cash-strapped Americans.
With time running out, lawmakers on Sunday said the new measure would provide roughly $300 in extra federal weekly unemployment benefits but not another round of $1,200 in direct payments to most Americans, leaving that issue for President-elect Joe Biden to wrestle over with a new Congress next year.
Now, senior Republican leaders are considering payments after White House officials indicated their desire to include them in the new package, sources told The Washington Post.

Additional direct payments would follow the first round of $1,200 payments sent to Americans last spring. Trump has privately indicated a willingness to send another round of stimulus checks of as much as $2,000, one person in direct communication with the president told The Post.
