Cranberry to Spruce Up Green Spaces
The Cranberry Board of Supervisors have greenlighted a 20-year plan that will revitalize parks and open spaces all around the township.
<strong>Contact: </strong>akasha.brandt@patch.com<br><strong>Hometown:</strong> Carlisle, PA<br><strong>Birthday: </strong>12/14/1991<br><strong>Position: </strong>Intern<br><br><strong>Bio:</strong><br><br>Akasha Brandt is a new summer intern who hopes to inject her sunny disposition into her work for the western PA Patches.<br><br>Thankfully instead of fetching coffee and making copies Akasha will be tasked with something more stimulating. She will be helping out the local editors by actively creating web content. <br><br>She is most looking forward to interacting with her Pittsburgh community and getting more entwined with the "black and yellow” mentality (although she may never acquire a taste for Primanti's sandwiches.)<br><br>Akasha learned about writing from the best teachers in the world—books. Originally starting out as a creative writer Akasha won many middle school and high school writing accolades, including a Scholastics’ National Silver Key. <br><br>After growing up (a little), writing some terribly emotional high school poetry, and falling in love with NPR and Newsweek, Akasha decided to approach college with the goal of marrying her fiction writing expertise to her love of journalism.<br><br>Currently she attends Point Park University as a junior Journalism student where she has written for the university paper, The Globe, as well as the Point Park News Service. At Point Park she has been taught by some of Pittsburgh’s finest, including Post Gazette alums, Helen Fallon, Mike Fuoco and Bill Moushey. <br><br>Her hobbies and interests include planning her upcoming wedding, watching Netflix for hours and learning how to roller skate.<br><br>If you see Akasha out and about say hi. She isn’t shy.<br><br><strong>Beliefs:</strong> Everyone should have freedom to live as they please unless it will directly cut into the freedom of others. To be super cliche, I believe in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. <br><br><strong>Politics:</strong> I’m a registered Independent with liberal leanings. <br><br><strong>Religion: </strong>I don’t see the need to define my beliefs on the unknown. I like it to be a mystery. However, I respect everyone’s right to explore their spiritual self or not.

With the repeal of the Act 13 bill, supervisors were able to reject their previous amendment.
Proud of their new place, church members are ready to share their space as a community center and rallying point for the public.
