Scouts BSA Troop 999 In Livermore was established more than fifty-five years ago. As a troop we strive to provide opportunities for Scouts to grow into capable young adults by focusing on the Aims of Scouting— character development, citizenship training, and mental and physical fitness—in all of our activities.
Our troop size gives every Scout the opportunity to serve in formal troop leadership positions, as well as informally by teaching younger Scouts new skills at campouts, organizing weekly troop meeting activities, or leading participation in troop service and fundraising activities. In addition, our Scouts are encouraged to attend National Youth Leadership Training. All Scouts are encouraged to work toward Eagle rank, with the recognition that each Scout will advance at his or her own pace.
Service projects are integrated into troop activities. In addition to participating each year in Scouting for Food, many of our Scouts regularly volunteer at the local food bank, participate in flag ceremonies at community events or civic meetings, and complete projects for our chartering organization, Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Parents are encouraged to get involved in Troop 999 as committee members, as assistant Scoutmasters, as merit badge counselors, or simply by participating in weekly troop meetings and monthly outings. Our troop is part of the Twin Valley District of the San Francisco Bay Area Council (SFBAC).
