Cindi joined Patch in October 2010 as a regional editor, serving communities where she grew up, attended school and worked for years as a journalist.
She previously was the Sunday Editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, where she oversaw all aspects of producing content for the largest edition of Western Pennsylvania's oldest and dominant newspaper. She also was a local news editor and reporter at the Post-Gazette, where she won national, state and regional journalism awards.
Among the stories she has covered: The crash of United Flight 93 on 9/11 and its aftermath; the G-20 Summit; the Sago and Quecreek mine disasters and the investigations that followed; the homecoming of Jessica Lynch; the neck-bomb robbery and slaying in Erie, Pa; mass shootings, natural disasters, national elections/campaigns and Super Bowls.
Her coverage of a resident's death at a Pittsburgh-area nursing home spurred investigations that resulted in the home administrator's conviction for manslaughter and, in an unprecedented case, federal health care fraud.
Her career also has included stints at The Pittsburgh Press, Birmingham (Ala.) News, Washington (Pa.) Observer-Reporter, and Indiana (Pa.) Gazette as well as a brief sojourn into corporate communications with the Reed Smith LLP law firm.
She is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and serves on its journalism advisory board. She's also an annual panelist at "Speak Up, Write Out," Gettysburg College's annual journalism symposium.
A resident of Mt. Lebanon, Pa., she is married, the proud mother of sons David and Brendan, the harried minder of two crazed dogs, a constant reader, a hockey fan and a decent cook. She's also a passionate believer in Patch's mission to bring comprehensive coverage and informed conversation to her friends and neighbors in Western Pennsylvania.
