Hi! My name is Kathleen Sturgeon and I am your local Field Editor for Patch sites serving the communities of Alpharetta-Milton, Canton-Sixes, Cumming, Johns Creek, Roswell and Woodstock-Towne Lake.
I love local, real-time news that impacts your daily life. I've lived in Alpharetta for most of my entire life, so it brings me great joy to share stories from my neighbors and news that will help my community.
Prior to Patch, I spent the last five years as the Editor of the local weekly newspaper, the Forsyth Herald. I covered everything happening in the county, including the Board of Education, Cumming City Council, Forsyth County Commission, police news, business stories, school news and features. I also was the Editor of the quarterly Answer Book publications, and frequently wrote for Northside Woman magazine. Outside of the newsroom, I hosted two podcasts: Lunch Break and Made in Alpharetta.
My writing and reporting have been recognized by the Georgia Press Association and the Association of Free Community Papers. In 2017, I was named an Emerging Journalist by Georgia Press. In 2018, my alma mater, the University of West Georgia, named me a Thriving Under 30 honoree.
Additionally, I spend part of my time as a Features Editor writing quarterly articles for the Sigma Kappa Sorority national magazine, The Triangle.
I joined Patch in March 2019, and I am always on the lookout for great stories to share. If you have a news tip, email me at kathleen.sturgeon@patch.com.
