Nysmith School For The Gifted, Community Contributor

The award winning Nysmith School for the Gifted was established in 1983 and serves 550 students ages 3 through 8th grade. In 2015 Nysmith was named One of the Top 10 Schools in the World by Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Talent Search. In 2014 Nysmith was awarded the Tommy Award by Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJ) for the "disproportionate" achievement of Nysmith Alumni at TJ. The Nysmith School uses small classes and a 1:9 ratio to diversify the academics to help each child succeed. The daily curriculum includes diversified reading and math classes up to 4 grade levels above grade, hands on science, technology, social studies, foreign language, and more.
