Community Companion Homes are family homes licensed by the State of Connecticut to provide residential supports and services to individuals serviced by the Department of Developmental Services. When circumstances make it impractical for a child or an adult to live in their family home, placement in a DDS licensed Community Companion Home can be a great choice. The CCH model offers a family setting to people with intellectual disabilities. Families of diverse cultures, backgrounds and compositions are sought for the best possible match.

CCH licensees provide the individual support for lifelong planning and to join with others to create and promote meaningful opportunities for them to fully participate as valued members of their communities, as well as maintaining contact with the people most important in their lives.

A CCH licensee offers a safe and nurturing home by giving guidance and support to the individuals who reside with the licensee. The licensee supports the individual's participation in family and community activities. They assist the individual to learn about and use community resources and services, as well as participate in activities that are valued and appropriate for the person's age, gender and culture. The licensee additionally ensures that the individual's identified health and medical needs are met and comply with licensing regulations of the CT Department of Developmental Services.
