Margaret Swarts, Neighbor

I am a recently retired music teacher. I taught elementary music in the Cherokee County School District for 17 years. I also taught music to a wide range of age groups in my hometown of Jackson, Mississippi, before moving to Cherokee County in 2000.

I have been interested in creative writing since the 4th grade. I was on the school paper staff from eighth grade through my senior year, and I wrote my first song at the age of 13.

I was the state publicity chairman for a national patriotic organization for five years. I also wrote articles and submitted photos on the local level for 18 years.

My true passion involves anything within the fine arts realm. This includes composing music, writing plays for children, poetry, visual arts, photography, and musical theatre. I consider myself to be a storyteller through words, music, and movement.

My greatest joy is being a mother of two and grandmother of three. As a grandparent I have been blessed with a whole new perspective, an added link to the circle of life!
