Code Ninjas to Debut in Lehi To Teach Kids Coding in a Cool Way

Code Ninjas Center Officially Open, and Focuses on Building Video Games, Robotics, and Drones

(Code Ninjas)

Say the words, “video game” and your kids are bound to stop and listen. The local owner of a new Code Ninjas, a learning center that debuted on November 9 at 1550 E. 3500 N. Suite 101, knows that video games aren’t only fun, but educational. Code Ninjas will serve the local area by teaching children computer coding and problem solving skills while having fun building video games.

The Lehi location is owned by resident, Brandon Robins. After previously helping a couple start-ups get off the ground, Brandon caught the entrepreneurial bug. In 2009, he opened an insulation company that he owned and operated with a friend. His insulation company grew to have locations in seven states and became a top provider of residential and commercial weatherization services. After selling his half the company in 2017, Brandon set out to find a new business idea that aligned with his passions and something that the local community could benefit from as well as his four sons. Brandon’s oldest son had a passion for tech and games so when he found Code Ninjas, he knew this kind of fun video game-based learning concept was just what the greater Salt Lake City area community would benefit from. With nothing else like it in the area, Brandon saw that this type of education was essential for setting kids up for success. He knew that this would be a concept that not only his son would love but was needed for other kids in the community as well. Being located in Silicone Slopes surrounded by a major tech hub, Lehi is the perfect location to train the next generation of coders and tech leaders. Brandon is opening four locations across the Salt Lake City, with the first opening in South Jordan in March 2019 and two more opening after Lehi.

“Code Ninjas provides great value to children by teaching the ever more important skill of coding and computer programming in a fun and engaging way, which will be essential in the coming years. It will also help develop important decision-making and problem-solving skills to help them grow and prepare for the future,” said Robins. “Code Ninjas will offer children in the Lehi community valuable life skills by providing an experience and atmosphere that will help them build confidence, increase their team-building and social skills, and learn to set and accomplish goals.”

Children ages 7-14 in the Lehi area can look forward to visiting the new Code Ninjas center to learn how to code in a fun, safe, and social learning environment where gaming is celebrated, and STEM is cool. Everything about Code Ninjas is built around fun, which keeps kids coming back. But the center also provides the results that parents are looking for, as their children gain coding and problem-solving skills they’ll need for the jobs of the future.

Code Ninjas accomplishes this with a robust, game-based curriculum made up of nine belts, just like martial arts. The curriculum is self-paced, but not self-taught; kids get immediate help and encouragement from Code Senseis and fellow students as they advance from white to black belt. The program keeps kids motivated with little wins along the way, and “Belt-Up” celebrations where they receive color-coded wristbands to mark their graduation to the next level. By the time a child finishes the program, they will conceptualize, design, code, test, and publish an app in an app store.

Keeping their ninjas and Senseis safe is top priority and Code Ninjas Lehi. It’s important for kids to have consistency and the safety protocols will follow the guidelines of the local school district and state health departments.

Code Ninjas offers a variety of opportunities for children to get involved, including a flexible weeknight drop-in program, camps, clubs, and Parents Night Out events on some weekends.

Center tours and informational calls are available now. For more information about the Lehi Code Ninjas location, please visit the website.
