How To Vote In Salt Lake City On Tuesday
While most of the attention will be on who will fill Jason Chaffetz's seat, Salt Lake City residents will pick their next council members.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT — Election Day is Tuesday, and while much focus will be on who will fill former Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz's seat, Salt Lake City residents will head to the polls to choose their next city council members. Salt Lake City residents in Districts 1, 3, 5 and 7 will vote for city council.
Phil Carroll and Chris Wharton were in a tight race for District 3, the Salt Lake City Tribune reported, with Carroll just a point behind Wharton.
So how do you cast your vote Tuesday? First, you need to find a polling place.

Visit the Salt Lake County Clerk and find a place near you. The site will provide the name of the county's facility and address. Voters can vote at any of the centers listed on Election Day. The centers will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. You do not have to wait in line to deposit a vote-by-mail ballot.
Utah law requires that all voters provide valid identification before being allowed to vote in person. Acceptable forms of ID include the following, as long as it has the name and voter's picture:

- a valid state driver license
- a valid identification card issued by: the state; or a branch, department, or agency of the United States
- a valid Utah permit to carry a concealed weapon
- a valid United States passport
- a valid United States military identification card
The following identification cards can be presented even if the card doesn't include a picture:
- a valid tribal identification card
- a Bureau of Indian Affairs card
- a tribal treaty card
Alternatively, voters can provide two forms of identification that have the voter's name and provide proof of residency in the voting precinct, which may include:
- a current utility bill or copy dated within 90 days before the election
- a bank or other financial account statement, or copy
- a certified birth certificate
- a valid Social Security card
- a check issued by the state or the federal government or a legible copy
- a paycheck from the voter's employer, or a legible copy
- a valid Utah hunting or fishing license
- certified naturalization documentation
- a valid license issued by an authorized agency of the United States
- a certified copy of court records showing the voter's adoption or name change
- a valid Medicaid card, Medicare card, or Electronic Benefits Transfer Card
- a valid identification card issued by:
- a local government within the state
- an employer for an employee
- a college, university, technical school, or professional school
- a current Utah vehicle registration
