Toddler Shreds Parents' $1,060 In Cash Saved For Football Tickets
While the boy's parents were upset, they are taking the incident in their stride. "Will make for a good wedding story!" the father said.

A Utah couple saving money to pay for football tickets is back to square one after their 2-year-old son apparently shredded the cash.
The parents, Ben and Jackee Belnap, found that the envelope with more than $1,000 in cash disappeared over the weekend, they told local news station KSL. The money was to pay back Ben's parents for season University of Utah football tickets, according to KSL.
Their son, 2-year-old Leo, is apparently familiar with the shredder and helps with getting rid of junk mail.

According to Good4Utah, the couple searched for the cash under rugs, in the couch and in drawers before Jackee Belnap found it in the shredder. The couple told the news outlet they immediately knew Leo was behind it.
Ben Belnap posted a photo of the shredded green to Twitter, along with an accompanying photo of little Leo.

So me and my wife had been saving up to pay for our @Utah_Football tickets in cash. We pulled our money out yesterday to pay my mom for the season... Well we couldn’t find the envelope until my wife checked the shredder. Yup. 2 year old shredded $1,060. pic.twitter.com/93R9BWAVDE

In a follow-up Tweet, Belnap wrote that he and his wife were not looking for donations or a crowdfunding effort but he called attention to a non-profit working to help refugees.
I’m not after any go-fund me or anything but this is a cause that my family and I care a lot about. We’ll hopefully get our money back from DC but refugee aid is a problem today. Hope everyone had a laugh at the story and brought you a little smile. https://t.co/M6Pp6AUjJl

Belnap appeared to have a good humor about the unfortunate incident.
In response to one user who commented on his photo, Belnap wrote "It took a few hours to get over the shock but it really is hilarious. Will make for a good wedding story!"
One user commenting on the photo wrote "He's just doing his part to keep inflation under control." Belnap responded with "I like it! Good ole fashion monetary policy!"
Some commented that 2-year-old Leo looked tall for his age.
"The dude is massive!" wrote Belnap.
In his tweet, Belnap wrote that the couple will hopefully get their money back from Washington D.C. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing has a process in place to redeem mutilated currency. According to the BEP's website, mutilated currency is currency damaged to the extent that its value is questionable. The BEP's service is free and it says it handles about 30,000 claims every year, redeeming mutilated currency valued at over $30 million. But the department cautions that there are lengthy wait times to redeem currency.
