Utah Connections Academy Students Join Electronic Field Trip

Live webcast from the National WW Museum takes students across the country to discover pivotal sites and stories

Imagine attending a field trip that lets you travel the country without stepping foot outside in the recent snow. Students in grades 9th through 12th at Woods Cross-based Utah Connections Academy will be exploring The National WWII Museum in New Orleans tomorrow February 4th at 11 a.m., electronically. Thousands of students across the country will tune into a live interactive journey through the science, sites, and stories in creating the atomic bomb - it's called the Manhattan Project Electronic Field Trip. More than 75,000 students across the globe tuned in to last year's electronic field trip.

Hosted by student reporters, the live webcast will stream into classrooms across the country, and take students to explore significant historic sites in Washington State, New Mexico, and the Museum’s galleries in New Orleans. The 50-minute webcast will include original footage and artifacts from the Museum, conversations with subject-matter experts, live polling and Q&A, teacher curriculum materials(essays and lesson plans), and more.

The National WWII Museum tells the story of the American experience in the war that changed the world—why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today—so that future generations will know the price of freedom and be inspired by what they learn. Dedicated in 2000 as The National D-Day Museum and now designated by Congress as America’s National WWII Museum, it celebrates the American spirit, the team work, optimism, courage and sacrifices of the men and women who fought on the battlefront and served on the Home Front.
