Annandale Boys & Girls Club's (ABGC) Under-12 girls recreational soccer team, the Fireball Angels, won their age-group at Fairfax Police Youth Club’s (FPYC) Father’s Day All Star tournament this weekend.
The Fireball Angels were one of three ABGC teams entered in the U-12 age group, and they beat five other teams for first place in their age group.
According to Coach Nate Carmody, the team advanced to the championship game by beating teams from Loudoun and McLean, and tying a La Plata, Md. team. In the final game, on Sunday afternoon, the Fireball Angels had a rematch against the La Plata Freedom.

"The rematch was a fitting ending to the tournament, as both teams were clearly the two best in the tournament and evenly matched," Carmody wrote. After 60 minutes of regulation play, the game was tied at 2-2, forcing the game into overtime. Scoring in the first extra period, the Fireball Angels held on to win the game with a score of 3-2.
