Celebrate community at the Taste of Annandale

The public is invited to a community festival Oct. 14 in Annandale, VA, with food, entertainment, children's activities, & a 5K race.

The third annual Taste of Annandale has been scheduled for Oct. 14, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., along Tom Davis Drive in the heart of Annandale, Va.

This family-friendly event features food from local restaurants and food trucks, a 5K race, live music and dance reflecting the community’s diversity, a chili cook-off pitting the police against firefighters, and a full program of children’s activities. There is no charge to attend.

The title sponsors of the 2017 Taste of Annandale are BB&T Bank, Bill Page Toyota, and Page Chevrolet.

The 5K will start at 10 a.m. at the Kmart parking lot, at 4251 John Marr Drive. The winners will be announced from the stage at the Taste of Annandale.

The children’s programming, hosted by the Annandale Christian Community for Action’s Child Development Center, will include puppet shows, live music, crafts, games, and more.

Among the entertainers already booked are Monarca in Flight, an amazing aerial dance troupe; the Blue Book Value Band; the Tamure Ataata South Pacific dance group; the classical Chinese Alice Gu-Zheng Ensemble; the 7-Step Hand Dance Academy; and the Eagle TaeKwonDo Academy.

The purpose of the Taste of Annandale is to encourage community engagement, celebrate Annandale's diversity, and shine a spotlight on local restaurants and businesses. The festival is organized by a volunteer group of local stakeholders.

Other sponsors include the Annandale Rotary Club, Annandale United Methodist Church, Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Virginia, and Annandale Blog.
