Classical Ballet Theatre Presents The Nutcracker, Thanksgiving and Black Friday

  1. Nutcracker, anyone? The Classical Ballet Theatre will perform in stunning costumes set to beautiful choreography, and Tchaikovsky’s magnificent music on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. Ernst Community Cultural Center Theatre at Northern Virginia Community College, located at 8333 Little River Turnpike, Annandale. Tickets are $18-$25. More info.
  2. Thanksgiving is Thursday! If the promise of food and family isn't enough, here's a look at our holiday guide, which is a list of tons of events happening in our are this season.
  3. If you don't want to deal with the big box stores for Black Friday, consider shopping local. There's going to be a Black Friday Holiday Celebration at the Workhouse Arts Center, located at 9601 Ox Rd., in Lorton. The shopping is from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., More info.
  4. A group of Lake Braddock students in nearby Burke are collecting clothes, granola bars, toothbrushes and a ton of other items to donate to victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Read more here on how you can help.
  5. Drumstix Dash 8K: Saturday, Nov. 30 is the Drumstix Dash race that benefits the Housing and Community Services of Northern Virginia. The race starts at 9 a.m. at Burke Lake Park, located at 7315 Ox Road in Fairfax Station. 8K registration is $30 and $35 race day, while the fun run registration: $15.  More info.
