FOUND: Critical Missing Person from Springfield Area: Police
Police say missing man suffers from dementia; last seen Wednesday afternoon on Montgomery Street in the Springfield area (see map below).
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- (UPDATE Thursday, 12:30 p.m.) Fairfax County Police report that Melvin "Mel" Wylie has been found after his family reported him missing Wednesday afternoon.
Police received a call Thursday afternoon that Wylie was at a service station in the 1900 block of Elkin Street in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. "We confirmed it was Mel and he has now been reunited with his family," police said.
Elkin Street is about 14.2 miles from where Wylie was last seen (see map below).

Fairfax County Police detectives were asking for the public’s assistance in locating the 72-year-old man last seen Wednesday around 1:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of Montgomery Street (see map below) in Springfield.
Police said he suffers from dementia and may have needed medical attention. He was believed to be driving his 2008, black Ford Taurus (similar to car below; art provided by FCPD), with Virginia license plates XTC3818. He was wearing a green shirt and black pants.
