FAIRFAX, VA — Schools in one region of Fairfax County Public Schools have spearheaded an effort to get more contributions to Hurricane Dorian survivors in the Bahamas.

The 32 schools of Region 5, which includes the Chantilly, Fairfax, Westfield, and Woodson High pyramids, started a GoFundMe account to support families impacted by the destruction of Dorian. Funds go to the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) for water, shelter, food, clothes and school materials.

The fundraiser has a $25,000 goal. It is open from Sept. 18 to Oct. 4.
