One Night Only Showing of "Muffin Top: A Love Story" to Benefit Girls, Inc.

Locals are invited for a private movie screening of “Muffin Top: A Love Story” on Thursday, November 13 at 7:30 pm at AMC Hoffman. This crowdfunded, indie movie is a hilarious and sweet body image romantic comedy about how you can find true love, once you love the skin you’re in.

Cathryn Michon stars as Suzanne, a women’s studies professor who goes on a self-esteem shame spiral when her husband leaves her for a younger, thinner woman. Her insecurity over this causes her to make some missteps, but, ultimately, she embraces the mantra, “DON’T WEIGHT, BE HAPPY NOW,” and is led to a more authentic and fulfilling life.

In addition to a great story line, a few other really cool reasons to come out and view this flick include:

1. This movie has more women in front of and behind the camera than any Hollywood feature film in the last three years.

2. This movie has the first all-female soundtrack score in romantic comedy history.

3. The opening title song is an original composition, “Beautiful,” written by international recording artist Michelle Featherstone and it’s a female empowerment anthem featuring lyrics like: “I don’t want to be someone else, I only want to be myself. I feel alive, I feel alive and I am beautiful.”

4. This movie benefits the non-profit, Girls, Inc. (http://www.girlsinc.org/), whose mission is to inspire all girls to be “strong, smart and bold.”

In order for this premiere to go forward, 67 tickets must be sold by November 6. The theater sells out at 175 people so buy your tickets right away. Tickets cost $10 and the movie is rated R.
