Incumbent Del. Levine Loses To Bennet-Parker In 45th District
Incumbent Delegate Mark Levine lost his primary election in the 45th district and the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor Tuesday.

ARLINGTON, VA — Incumbent Delegate Mark Levine fell short in two primary elections on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press. Levine was defeated by Elizabeth Bennett-Parker in the 45th District's House of Delegates primary and by Hala Ayala in the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor.
With 25 of 26 precincts in the 45th District reporting, Levine secured 41 percent of the vote. His opponent, Bennett-Parker, earned 59 percent, according to unoffical results from the Virginia Department of Elections. The AP declared Bennett-Parker as the winner on Tuesday night.
The 45th District consists of portions of Alexandria and Arlington, including Del Ray and Shirlington.

Bennett-Parker will face off against Republican nominee Justin Maddox in a general election for the seat in November.
Locally, Democrats Chanda Choun and Takis Karantonis competed to fill the vacant seat on the Arlington County Board.

Karantonis earned 67 percent of the votes while Choun secured 33 percent, according to the Virginia Department of Elections. All 55 precincts have reported results.
Karantonis is a senior technical advisor. "These past months have challenged me to ensure that our policies and actions serve all Arlingtonians in the midst of pandemic and racial justice crises," he said.
The Arlington County Democratic Committee wrapped up its caucus on May 23 to decide who they would endorse for the Arlington School Board in November. Mary Kadera defeated Miranda Turner, with a vote count of 3,836 to 2,368, respectively.
