Arlington Transit To Suspend Service With County Under Curfew

Arlington's bus system joined Metro in closing early for public safety reasons after Wednesday's breach at the U.S. Capitol.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington Transit (ART) will suspend service at 9 p.m. on Wednesday in response to public safety concerns related to the riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Alexandria, Arlington and DC are under a curfew from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday as issued by Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Arlington Transit opted to suspend service early in the interest of public safety. Buses scheduled to begin service after 9 p.m. will not operate. Buses operating at 9 p.m. will continue operating to the end of the line before going out of service. STAR Service will not begin any new trips after 9 p.m.

Metrorail will close at 8 p.m., and last trains will depart downtown transfer stations at that time. Metrobus service will end at 9 p.m. Alternate transportation will not be provided. Alexandria's DASH Bus service is also suspending service at 9 p.m.

Reagan National Airport in Arlington continue to operate normally. Customers and employees are allowed to travel to and from the airport for essential purposes during curfew, the airport said in a tweet. Customers should be aware of the changes to Metrorail service and bus services.
