Armed Carjacking In Pentagon City Ends In Arrest Of 4 Juveniles

Arlington County police arrested four juveniles Sunday in connection with an armed carjacking inside the Pentagon City parking garage.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County police arrested four juveniles Sunday in connection with an armed carjacking inside the Pentagon City parking garage. The four suspects were charged with carjacking, conspiracy to commit robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The driver of the stolen vehicle is facing additional charges of eluding and destruction of property, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

At about 7:55 p.m. on Sunday, police were dispatched to the 1200 block of S. Hayes Street for the report of an armed carjacking that had just occurred. The officers were flagged down by witnesses who told them in what direction the stolen vehicle was traveling.

An Arlington County police officer, with emergency lights turned on, found the vehicle on S. Eads Street and attempted a traffic stop. The driver didn’t stop, going through red lights and eluding police.

The driver continued to try to get away but struck a curb in the 1300 block of Army Navy Drive, causing the vehicle to come to a stop only a couple blocks from the parking garage. All four suspects were then taken into custody.

The investigation determined that the victim was sitting inside his vehicle in the Pentagon City parking garage when the four suspects approached. One suspect brandished a firearm and demanded the victim open the door to the vehicle. The suspects then took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim before fleeing the scene in his vehicle and driving through a fence that was blocking part of the garage, the police said.
