Ballston Quarter Pedestrian Bridge Wins 2021 IDEAS² Award
The pedestrian walkway over Wilson Boulevard connects Ballston Quarter and the Ballston Exchange.

BALLSTON, VA — The "Ballston Quarter Pedestrian Bridge," a 2019 public art installation linking Ballston Quarter and Ballston Exchange, is the winner of a 2021 IDEAS² Award, according to a post on the Arlington Cultural Arts Division's Twitter account.
The bridge was one of 10 projects from around the country recognized with an Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel Award this year.
The award winners were chosen by the American Institute of Steel Construction as examples of projects that highlight the innovative design possibilities of building with structural steel.

“These projects showcase the versatility of structural steel,” said AISC President Charles J. Carter, in a release, “and they all demonstrate a remarkable amount of innovation and creativity."
The "Ballston Quarter Pedestrian Bridge" received Merit Award for a project of less than $15 million.

The bridge, which provides an enclosed walkway over Wilson Boulevard, was designed by studioTECHNE|architects, with input from a collaborative public process.
