Car2Go Closing Operations In Arlington, DC: Report

Share Now, known until recently as Car2Go, announced it will exit the North American market early next year.

Popular car rental service Car2Go announced this week it plans to pull out of the North American market effective Feb. 29. The German company currently has more than 150,000 users in the Washington, DC and Arlington areas, according to reports.

The decision was based on two factors — the "volatile state of the global mobility landscape," DCist reports, and the second the rising transportation costs required to sustain services in North America.

In North America, Car2Go services other metropolitan areas including Montreal, New York, Seattle and Vancouver. The company also announced it will shut down its operations in three European locations — Florence, London and Brussels.
