Coronavirus: Arlington Public Schools Adjusts Schedule
Arlington Public Schools is adjusting its schedule for the next month due to concerns over the coronavirus.
ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington Public Schools will be closed beginning Monday, March 16, due to concerns over the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. The announcement was made Friday in a joint statement from APS interim Superintendent Cintia Z. Johnson and Peter J. Noonan, superintendent of Falls Church City Public Schools.
"The present plans are to remain closed through Spring Break, with students scheduled to return on April 14, 2020," the superintendents said, in their statement. "We will continue to evaluate and monitor the situation on a daily basis and will provide an update on our plans as new information is available."
On Thursday, Arlington County confirmed the second presumptive positive case of COVID-19 involving an Arlington resident. The individual is identified as an associate of Christ Church Georgetown. Many congregants had been directed to self-quarantine if they had visited the church on Feb. 24 or between Feb. 28 and March 3, after the rector had been identified received a presumptive positive test. The Arlington remains well and is isolated at home.

Also on Thursday,Arlington released the guidelines to help community groups determine which gatherings are necessary and which can be postponed or canceled.
