COVID-19 Vaccinations: Book Your Own Appointment In Arlington
Adults 16 and older are now able to schedule their own COVID-19 vaccination appointments at county health clinics.
ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington residents 16 and older are now able to book an appoint to receive a free COVID-19 vaccine at county health clinics.
“Arlington has hit a major milestone in its vaccination efforts by surpassing more than 100,000 doses administered through our public health clinics,” said Matt de Ferranti, chairman of the Arlington County Board, in a release on Tuesday. “ As we continue our work to efficiently vaccinate our residents and do so equitably, open scheduling helps remove barriers to making an appointment and ensures our community can quickly and conveniently access COVID-19 vaccines.”
All residents have to do to schedule an appointment directly at one of Arlington's public health clinics is to visit the county's website or search for an appointment at nearby locations by searching VaccineFinder.org.

“Vaccines offer the best form of protection against COVID-19," said Dr. Reuben Varghese, Arlington County Public Health director, in a release. "The more people protected, the better it is for ourselves and our community. We’ve made significant progress and we need more people vaccinated.”
If you have already pre-registered for a vaccination appointment but haven't received an invitation to schedule one, the county recommends checking your spam folder. If that doesn't work, schedule an appointment on the county website.

Adults 16 and 17 should seek an appointment at a location where the Pfizer vaccine is being offered. In the coming days, the county will resume administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. This information will be included in the appointment slots.
As of Tuesday morning, 162,611 doses of COVID-19 have been administered in Arlington and 65,606 people fully vaccinated, according to the Virginia Department of Health. Statewide, 5,968,441 doses have been administered and 2,477,096 people are fully vaccinated.
VDH confirmed 13 additional cases of COVID-19 Tuesday morning in the Arlington Health District. That's about half the 25 reported on Monday. The total number of positive cases reported in the county stands at 15,020.
No new deaths connected with COVID-19 were reported in the Arlington Health District, according VDH. The total number of deaths related to COVID-19 now stands at 252. To date, 827 people have been hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Arlington.
The positivity rate of COVID-19 testing in the Arlington Health District remains at the lowest level in months. VDH reported that a total of 259,947. COVID-19 tests have been taken in the Arlington, with a 3.5 percent positivity rate. That's the lowest confirmed positivity rate since 3.0 percent was reported on June 27, 2020.
Arlington's positivity rate has been steadily declining since it peaked at 13.4 percent on Jan. 2. Statewide there have been 9,142,660 COVID-19 tests taken, with a 5.8 percent positivity rate.

There have been 65 outbreaks of COVID-19 in the Arlington Health District. There have been 28 outbreaks at long-term care facilities, 18 in a congregate setting, one at a correctional facility, four in health care settings, six at a child care facilities, one at a college or a university, and seven at a K-12 facility. The total number of cases associated with an outbreak is 1,089. There have been 352 reported coronavirus cases in Arlington involving health-care workers.
There have been 656,034 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 10,724 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There have been a total of 28,194 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Globally, more than 148 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 3.1 million people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Tuesday morning. In the U.S., more than 32.1vi million people have been infected and over 572,000 people have died from COVID-19.
Arlington residents should take the following actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
