Curbside Yard Waste Collection To Resume In Arlington
Curbside yard waste collection is resuming in Arlington starting Monday, Aug. 31 after service was suspended due to the coronavirus.

ARLINGTON, VA — Curbside yard waste collection is resuming in Arlington starting Monday, Aug. 31, allowing residents to fill their green carts with any small branches, grass clippings, leaves, weeds and other yard waste they have been collecting in piles over the past three months. Arlington County suspended yard waste pickup in May due to contractor issues related to the coronavirus crisis.
During the first week of service restoration, the county is asking residents to limit yard waste to the green cart and up to five paper organics bags. This will help ensure collection crews are not overwhelmed and can complete routes on schedule.
Confusion over yard waste collection had spread across Arlington County. Over the past few months, some residents had placed their green carts at the curb after hearing rumors that pickup had resumed, only to see their carts still filled with yard waste at the end of pickup day.

Meanwhile, curbside collection of larger yard waste material like brush and limbs will remain available by appointment. The county’s temporary yard waste drop-off locations at the Trades Center and mulch pick-up site at North 26th Street and Yorktown Boulevard will be unavailable after Friday, Sept. 4.
Residents with questions about yard waste pickup should contact the county's customer contact center at 703-228-5000 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, or visit the county's trash and recycling website.
