Incumbent Del. Patrick Hope (D-47th), who represents the central and northeastern part of the county, is currently the only Democratic candidate running in the 47th District, according to Arlington Elections.
On March 31, the State Board of Elections denied a filing extension for Hope's Democratic challenger, Matt Rogers, to get on the primary ballot, according Blue Virginia.

Rogers told ARLNow that he was contesting the board's decision, claiming that he had mailed in all of necessary paperwork in June 2020.
Since Hope does not have an official challenger, the primary ballot in the 47th District does not include that race.
In the 45th District, incumbent Mark Levine's name appears twice on Tuesday's ballot. He is being challenged by Elizabeth Bennett-Parker in the House of Delegates' race and is also running against six other candidates in the lieutenant governor's race.
Locally, Democrats Chanda Choun and Takis Karantonis are competing to fill the vacant seat on the Arlington County Board.
The Arlington County Democratic Committee wrapped up its caucus on May 23 to decide who they would endorse for the Arlington School Board for the Nov. 2 election. Mary Kadera defeated Miranda Turner, with a vote count of 3,836 to 2,368, respectively.
The Virginia Republican Party has already chosen its candidates for the Nov. 2 election during a May 8 convention.
