Felony Stalking Charges Filed Against Stafford Man: Police

Arlington County Police charged a Stafford, Virginia man in connection with an assault and three recent stalking incidents.

COURTHOUSE, VA —The Arlington County Police Department’s Special Victims Unit accused a Stafford, Virginia man with stalking three women and assaulting one of them recently, according to a police report.

Officers were dispatched around 9:58 a.m., on Sept. 8, to the 3100 block of Lee Highway, for the report of an assault. The female victim told police she was walking on a trail when she saw a man coming toward her in the distance. The woman turned around and began to walk way from the man, but he increased his pace, closing the distance between them. The man grabbed the victim's hip and touched her inappropriately. The victim shouted, causing the man to flee on foot.

Officers responded around 1:27 p.m., on Oct. 9, for the report of a suspicious person in the 3000 block of Wilson Blvd. The female victim was walking in the area when she noticed a man following her into a business. She recognized the man from a previous encounter in April and contacted police.

Around 3:37 p.m. the same day, officers responded to the report of a suspicious person in the 2300 block of Clarendon Blvd. The female victim was strolling in the area when she noticed a man following her. As she attempted to walk away, the man began following her. Although the woman attempted to evade the man, including taking different routes, sitting in a park, and entering a business, the man continued to follow her. She then called the police.

ACPD arrested Lamar Dontae McCarthy, 23, of Stafford, and charged him with sexual battery and two counts of felony stalking. He is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.
