Flash Flood Warning Issued for Arlington

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the City of Alexandria and Arlington County Wednesday, until 8 p.m. The areas are under the warning from 5-8 p.m.

The National Weather Service reports that between 1-2 inches of rain has already fallen and flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.
The weather service notes that areas that could see flooding include Crystal City and the Barcroft area.

Drivers are advised to “turn around...don’t drown” when encountering flooded roads. The weather service noted that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. If you are in an area under a warning, the NWS advises moving to higher ground immediately.
