General Election 2018: Absentee Voting To Open In Arlington
Find out who's eligible for absentee voting, the voter registration deadline and more things to know for the general election.

ARLINGTON, VA — Absentee voting for Virginia's 2018 general election will open for Arlington County residents on Friday, Sept. 21, at the Bozman Government Center (formerly Courthouse Plaza), 2100 Clarendon Blvd. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6.
From Friday through Oct. 25, voting will take place in Suite 320, on the third floor. From Oct. 26 to Friday, Nov. 2, voting will take place in the Cherry/Dogwood conference rooms, at the lobby level. Voters will complete their absentee ballot application when they come to vote.
Through Nov. 2, absentee voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, except as follows:

- 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, to Thursday, Nov. 1;
- 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays — Oct. 20, Oct. 27 and Nov. 3;
- Absentee voting ends at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3.
Absentee voting is an alternative to voting on Election Day for those unable to make it to the polls. Residents can cast an absentee ballot if they're:
- Away for personal business, work, vacation, active military service or at school.
- Working and commuting for 11 or more hours, between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., on Election Day. (Account for those days when traffic is heavy or the weather is bad and it takes longer than usual to get to and from work.)
- Physically unable to go to the polls because of an illness or disability.
- A caregiver for a family member confined at home.
- Pregnant.
- A "first responder" (firefighter, law enforcement, emergency medical technician, search and rescue).
- Active Duty Merchant Marine or Armed Forces (or a spouse/dependent of someone on Active Duty).
- A Precinct Election Officer.
- Confined, awaiting trial (or convicted of a misdemeanor).
