Grill Fire Causes 2 Injuries, $350K In Damage To Lyon Park Home
Two firefighters were injured while working to extinguish fire Tuesday night at a Lyon Park home.

ARLINGTON, VA — A fire caused by a charcoal grill igniting nearby combustable materials resulted in $350,000 in damage to a Lyon Park area home Tuesday night, according to posts on Arlington County Fire & Rescue's official Twitter account.
Fire units responded around 8 p. m., to the 2800 block of 1st Road N., for the report of a structure fire. Arriving on the scene, crews located the fire in the rear of the home. More than 20 pieces of equipment and 70 firefighters responded the scene, including units from the Fairfax County and the City of Alexandria fire departments.
Although the fire was eventually extinguished, fire personnel were still on the scene around 10:21 p.m., conducting overhaul operations, according to a Twitter post. No civilian injuries were reported, but two fire personnel were transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Arlington's Fire Prevention Office determined that a charcoal grill was the source of the fire that caused more than $350,000 in damage to the home, according to a Wednesday morning post on Twitter. The office also reminded the public to keep cooking flames at least 10 feet away from any combustable material or structure.
