Half-Dozen Crystal City Buildings To Be Redeveloped: Report
JBG Smith reportedly is planning on a major redevelopment project in Crystal City.

ARLINGTON, VA — Developer JBG Smith is planning on a major Crystal City redevelopment project that would involve a half dozen buildings, according to a report.
The Washington Business Journal reports that the developer is targeting 2.6 million square feet of space across five multifamily buildings and one office building -- but this will not be for Amazon's second headquarters.
Specifically, JBG is looking at 2000 and 2001 S. Bell St., 223 23rd St., and 2300 and 2525 Crystal Drive, according to the report.

Development has ramped up in Crystal City ever since Amazon chose the area as the location of its second headquarters last year. Amazon says its new headquarters in Crystal City will employ 25,000 workers and bring in billions of dollars in investment (although some critics have disputed these figures). Crystal City reportedly offered $819 million in incentives.
“We are excited to build new headquarters in New York City and Northern Virginia,” said Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, in a statement at the time of the announcement last year, and before the company pulled out of New York due to fierce local opposition. “These two locations will allow us to attract world-class talent that will help us to continue inventing for customers for years to come. The team did a great job selecting these sites, and we look forward to becoming an even bigger part of these communities.”
