Hit By Jeep, Injured Bicyclist Taken To Hospital: Report

Police charged the driver of a Jeep with failing to yield after striking a bicyclist in the Clarendon area this morning.

CLARENDON, VA — A bicyclist was taken to a trauma center with severe injuries Friday morning after being hit by a Jeep at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and 10 Street N., in the Clarendon area, according to a report.

ARLnow reported that the initial call of a bicyclist being struck by a vehicle came in around 10:30 a.m. from a police officer who was at a traffic stop in the vicinity.

"The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries," Arlington County Police spokeswoman Ashley Savage said.

The driver, who remained at the scene, was charged with failing to yield, according to Savage.

Police partially closed the intersection, while detectives investigated the incident. The road was later reopened to traffic.
