Man Fires Shot Into Neighbor's Apartment While Cleaning Gun

An Arlington man was arrested after he accidentally fired a shot into his neighbor's apartment while cleaning his gun, police said.

ARLIGNTON, VA — An Arlington man was arrested after he accidentally fired a shot into his neighbor's apartment while cleaning his gun in Ballston, police said.

Alexander Kreitler, 28, was arrested and charged with Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Building.

Police said the incident happened at about 12:51 a.m. April 27 in the 3900 block of Fairfax Dr.

A victim told police she heard a loud noise inside of her residence and located a small hole in an interior wall and a metallic object.

Detectives determined Kreitler was cleaning his weapon when he "allegedly discharged the weapon from inside of a neighboring apartment, resulting in the damage to the victim’s residence," police said.
