More Snow To Fall Thursday In Arlington: Report

ARLINGTON, VA -- It looks like the 10 inches or so of snow we got in Arlington this past weekend won't even have a chance to melt before more comes our way on Thursday.

Forecasts earlier this week suggested that we may get another weekend snowstorm, but chances for that have declined since then. Instead, snow on Thursday looks like the better possibility, according to the latest forecast from the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang.

It all starts with a cold front moving in to our region on Wednesday, followed by a "weak" storm on Thursday that will bring enough precipitation that could start with snow and then transition to sleet and rain.

The snow is likely to start to the west of the D.C. region on Thursday afternoon and then head to the city and then farther east by the evening.

With temperatures hovering right around freezing, it's tough to say how much of it will be rain and therefore how it will affect the rush hour commute.

How much snow will we get? Perhaps as much as 3 inches. Or, we could just get a dusting.

CWG notes that a heavy snow band could develop somewhere in this system that could drop 1 to 3 inches of snow in a localized area.

As for the weekend, at first it looked like snow, but now we're expecting mostly rain thanks to winds from the south warming us up.
