No New COVID-19 Cases, Deaths Reported In Arlington

Virginia Department of Health reported no new COVID-19 cases in Arlington on Tuesday for the first in almost a year.

ARLINGTON, VA — No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Arlington Health District on Tuesday, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The last time that happened was July 6, 2020.

Tuesday was also the sixth day in a row that no deaths associated with COVID-19 were reported in Arlington. The total number deaths related to COVID-19 remains at 255.

In Arlington, the total number of positive cases of COVID-19 remains at 15,272 and 844 people have been hospitalized due to the illness.

Positivity rates for COVID-19 testing the Arlington Health District have been on the decline since January, when the county posted a 13.4 percent positivity rate on Jan. 2.

VDH reported that a total of 275,247 COVID-19 tests have been taken in Arlington, with a 2.8 percent positivity rate. That's the lowest positivity rate reported in Arlington since 2.6 percent was reported on June 26, 2020.

Statewide there have been 9,600,916 COVID-19 tests taken, with the current positivity rate at 3.9 percent.

As of Tuesday morning, 208,536 doses of COVID-19 have been administered in the Arlington Health District and 94,232 people have been fully vaccinated, according to VDH. Statewide, 7,158,336 doses have been administered and 3,246,784 Virginians are fully vaccinated.

Arlington County is offering free walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations for children ages 12-17. Individuals ages 12-17 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian who can provide permission to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

All residents have to do to schedule an appointment directly at one of Arlington's public health clinics is to visit the county's website or search for an appointment at nearby locations by searching VaccineFinder.org.

Arlington is also offering free walk-in vaccinations with no appointments necessary at the following locations this week.

There have been 66 outbreaks of COVID-19 in the Arlington Health District. There have been 28 outbreaks at long-term care facilities, 18 in a congregate setting, one at a correctional facility, four in health care settings, six at a child care facilities, two at a college or a university, and seven at a K-12 facility. The total number of cases associated with an outbreak is 1,107. There have been 369 reported coronavirus cases in Arlington involving health-care workers.

There have been 670,834 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 11,042 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There have been a total of 29,290 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Globally, more than 163.7 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 3.3 million people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Tuesday morning. In the U.S., more than 32.9 million people have been infected and over 586,000 people have died from COVID-19.
