Pet Of The Week: Newt Could Be Your High-Energy Best Friend

If you're interested in a high-energy best friend, Newt is the dog for you.

ARLINGTON, VA — Meet Newt, a 2-year-old male mixed breed. This handsome boy was recently transferred to us from West Virginia, where he was originally found as a stray. We can only assume he was wandering around in search of a home.

Newt is a wiggly, friendly pup with a tail that seems to have no off switch. Do you like to go for runs? So does Newt! Playing catch? Long hikes on weekends? Sign him up! Newt's ideal adopter would be someone who can match his adventurous and active personality while giving him the physical and mental outlets he needs.

Newt isn't just a physically active pup, he has proved that he is quite the smart cookie. Puzzle toys, sniff work and other mentally-stimulating activities go a long way with this goofball. Newt really is the definition of a best friend and he wants to be at your side at all times so he doesn't miss a minute of the fun. He is always happy to be around people but he can be too overwhelming for his fellow dogs, so we are requiring he be the only animal in his future home.
