Second Round of Snow Likely to Hit Arlington on Friday
More than 500 trucks will be out salting roads in Northern Virginia.

Northern Virginia woke up to a thin blanket of snow Thursday and began preparing for Round 2 forecast for Friday.
The National Weather Service at Reagan National Airport forecasts a 90 percent chance of snow for Arlington on Friday, mostly between 1 and 9 p.m.
For Northern Virginia as a whole, the overall chance of snow is a little less — about 70 percent, and that would fall between 2 and 6 p.m., said Steve Goldstein, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sterling.

Goldstein said it won’t be much but will fall through Friday's rush hour.
“We’re looking at another inch or maybe an inch and a half,” Goldstein said.

The region was coated with about an inch of snow Thursday morning. Virginia Department of Transportation salted main roads to help ease the morning commute.
Joan Morris, a spokeswoman for VDOT, said crews will pre-treat main roads Thursday night into Friday to melt some of the ice that may develop overnight. Crews will mobilize again at 4 a.m. Friday, she said.
Between 4 and 11 a.m. Thursday, Arlington County saw 34 car crashes — four of which involved some level of injury, according to police. None of the injuries were critical, and no fatalities were reported.
Police remind residents to remain at home unless it is necessary to go out, drive cautiously and allow extra time to reach your destination. Before leaving for your destination, be sure to clear all windows and the vehicle's roof of snow and ice.
Arlington Public Schools started on a two-hour delay on Thursday. Officials are monitoring the weather and will announce any changes or closures Friday on the school system's website.
