Services Scheduled for Kristy Flowers, 31, of Arlington

Services to be held in Ohio. She was an intelligence analyst, law student, GMU grad. Police say her boyfriend shot her in murder-suicide.

Kristy A. Flowers, 31, of Arlington, and formerly of Lorain, Ohio, died Saturday Dec. 6, 2014 at her home. She was born April 14, 1983 in Lorain, Ohio and had resided in Arlington for the past 11 years. Kristy graduated from Southview High School in Lorain in 2001. She attended George Mason University in Fairfax, where she earned her degree in History in 2009. She was currently in her second year studying law at American University Washington School of Law. She was also a member of the AKA sorority.

Kristy worked as an Intelligence Analyst for SAIC (now known as LEIDOS) for the United States government. Through her work she traveled extensively throughout Europe, Indonesia, Bosnia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and India.

She enjoyed traveling with her grandparents and parents, having visited Maui, Hawaii over 18 times. She recently began cruising on Royal Caribbean sharing her time on ship with her mother, godmother (Deborah Hughes) and friends. She was a true Diva who loved to dress up in the finest clothes and shoes and carry the finest handbags. She was a connoisseur of fine wines and collected several premium vintages.

Kristy also cherished the time she spent with her dear friends Kristy Kallem, Becky Gregg, Mandy Tate and Brandon Moland whom she shopped with and had dinner with. Kristy enjoyed playing softball, jogging, yoga and spin class. She was very devoted to her dog Mimi and cat Bentley but mostly she was a great friend to everyone. She was especially close to her sister Starr, niece Gloria and great niece Ava Lanai.

She is survived by her parents Jesse and Patricia Flowers (nee Facsko), brothers Todd (Valerie) Flowers of Shaker Heights, Jeffrey Flowers (Shelia Robinson) of Lorain and Gregory Flowers of Lorain, sisters Dana Jones and Starr (Rod) Flowers Lee all of Elyria, uncle Sidney (Wille) Flowers of West Point, Georgia, and Curtis (Alicia) Flowers of Elyria, aunts Jerry (Sidney) Boyd and Ann Moore, all of Elyria, many nieces and nephews, niece Gloria Lee and great niece AvaLanai Flowers and special friend Lance O’Stricker. She also leaves behind many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Louis and Ann Facsko (nee Ducar) and paternal grandparents Ocie and Jessie Mae Flowers (nee Stephens).

The family will receive friends Sunday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where a Parastas service will be held Sunday at 7 pm. Panachida services will be held Monday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Nicholas Rachford, pastor of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain officiating. The funeral will then process to Second Baptist Church, 427 W 16th St, Elyria where funeral services will begin at 10:30 am. Cremation will follow.
