Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Virginia, DC

The entire state of Virginia and DC is under a severe thunderstorm watch Wednesday, issued by the National Weather Service.

VIRGINIA — Most of Virginia could be affected by damaging thunderstorms Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service, which placed the state under a severe thunderstorm watch. The District of Columbia is also part of the watch.

Strong winds and large hail are possible, forecasters say.

The severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 26.

Thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and continue into the evening, some of which may become severe. "Stay weather ready and seek shelter if you hear thunder," the agency said.
