VIDEO: Watch Boy Recite All U.S. Presidents' Names...While Playing the Piano
Gavin Ohler, 10, of Arlington won third place in a national Presidents' Day competition sponsored by RxLearning of Vienna.

Most people recite their “ABCs” in a singalong voice at a young age. And when kids get a little older, music can still come into play when they’re trying to learn something new.
Just ask 10-year-old Gavin Ohler of Arlington, who can recite every U.S. president’s name from George Washington to Barack Obama, while playing Hannon on the piano.
Gavin was recently awarded for his efforts by taking third place in LearningRx’s annual Presidents’ Day contest, according to a news release from the company. LearningRx helps students increase their short-term and long-term memory, they say, using exercises like learning the U.S. presidents while playing the piano.

Kids across the country entered the contest by creating videos that demonstrate their memory and focus skills they’ve learned, according to LearningRx.
The piano exercise “is one of the first things we have students master in our brain training programs,” said Maureen Loftus, executive director of LearningRx of Vienna. “It quickly strengthens long-term memory, attention and other cognitive skills, and it also gives a big boost of self-confidence, because many of these kids have struggled in school for years and are now seeing a dramatic change in their grades and study habits,” said Loftus.

The national winner of this year’s LearningRx Presidents Day contest was 11-year-old John Mark of Frisco, Texas. He recited all 44 presidents while jumping on a pogo stick and catching a football.
