Vision Zero Aims To Reduce Transportation-Related Fatalities
Arlington County Transportation Department is hosting a Vision Zero open house Tuesday night at Washington-Liberty High School
ARLINGTON, VA -- Arlington County Board unanimously approved the Vision Zero Traffic Safety Strategy in July 2019, with the goal of reducing the number of of transportation-related deaths and serious injuries to zero. On Tuesday night, the public will have a chance to learn more about it at a Vision Zero Open House.
“Arlington can be proud that even as our population grew between 2013 and 2018 by 5.8 percent, we were able to reduce the number of collisions resulting in death or severe injury by 5.9 percent,” Arlington County Board Chair Christian Dorsey said, in a statement. “But we can, and must, do better. As our population continues to grow, and more cars, buses and bicycles share our streets, it is important that we work with the community toward the goal of completely eliminating deaths and serious injuries from traffic collisions.”
The Arlington County Transportation Department is hosting a Vision Zero Open House, Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 5-8 p.m., to provide the public with information about the strategy and an opportunity to give feedback to staff. The open house takes place at Washington-Liberty High School, 1301 N Stafford St.
