Weekend Heatwave: 'Feels Like' Temps to Hit 103 Degrees
National Weather Service forecasts weekend, Sunday especially, to be a scorcher in Arlington.

Thursday’s weather was just about perfect in the DC region, with temperatures in the 70s and low humidity. Try to remember that this weekend, when heat and humidity combine for a summer scorcher in the DC metro region, according to weather forecasts.
Here’s what’s coming, according to the National Weather Service:
- Friday night: Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the mid 70s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.
- Saturday: Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of showers in the morning...then a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 90s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.The hottest part of the day on Saturday will be at 6 p.m., when the heat index will hit 98 degrees, according to NWS. “Low-to-mid 90s could feel more like 105 degrees at times,” says the Capital Weather Gang.
- Saturday night: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening...then partly cloudy after midnight. Lows in the upper 70s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
- Sunday: Mostly sunny. A chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Hot with highs in the mid 90s. Southwest winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.
The hottest part of the day on Sunday will also be at about 6 p.m., when the heat index will hit 103 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

“Combining humidity with the heat, it may feel like (heat index) nearly 110 degrees at times, especially in the city,” says the Capital Weather Gang.
