LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Washington Redskins alum Santana Moss and Dr. Jen Welter, the first female NFL coach, along with Gold Medal winners Odessa Jenkins and Adrienne Smith, Master Trainer Coach Anthony Stone, and players from the D.C. Divas Football team, coached a group more than 100 women from the Women of Washington Redskins (WOW) club at a football drill camp on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Hosted by WOW, A Day in the Life of an NFL Player: Football Camp for Women welcomed the WOW members to the Inova Sports Performance Center at Redskins Park in Ashburn to experience what a typical day is like for a Redskins player.

WOW is the largest women’s fan program in the NFL with more than 121,000 members, according to WOW. The WOW women who attended the event were chosen by a lottery.

"We couldn’t have asked for a better experience this past weekend! More than 100 WOW members came out to learn the game of football through a vantage point that hasn’t been offered before – through the experience of the first female coach in the NFL, Jen Welter," said Glendalyn Junio, Marketing Manager, Washington Redskins.

"We’re so honored to have had Jen launch such a fun and insightful football camp here with the Redskins – and for also bringing in a team of amazing coaches from Team USA, the D.C. Divas and Scion Rugby. Santana Moss was also a huge piece in making this event happen. There’s nothing more empowering than seeing female athletes teach other women the game of football – it was an unbelievable event that showcased everything that WOW is about," Junio added.

Welter, who served as linebackers coach for the Arizona Cardinals in the summer of 2015, played 14 seasons in women’s professional football – earning two gold medals with the U.S. Women’s National Team.

At the event the WOW women were welcomed in the Redskins player’s auditorium with a full run-through of positions and plays by Moss, Welter and Stone.

Next they were taken into the Redskins indoor practice facility for dynamic warm-ups and then an experience of every position designed in an 11-station rotation of drills. After that, the WOW group had lunch in the Redskins player's cafeteria.

"Saturday's event was eye opening, informative, fantastic, and fun! I was honored and lucky to participate in such an innovative, groundbreaking program designed by the first female coach in the NFL," said Susan McNeely Lewis, one of the WOW members who attended the event. "The amount of talent there was amazing! I learned so much about each position and was excited to run some plays that we learned from our 'playbook' as we were taken through the process after being drafted as rookies."
