6 'Jingle Bell' & New Year's 5K/10K Races Set for Loudoun County

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Runners, walkers: finish out 2016 by participating in an upcoming race! Multiple 5K and 10K holiday-theme and New Year's races will be held in Loudoun County! Each race will benefit an area charity.

Here's a list of upcoming races, according to Running in the USA.

• Dec. 3: South Riding Jingle Bell Dash, South Riding

Get in the spirit this holiday season and hit the pavement to celebrate the season. Wear a holiday themed costume or running gear, tie jingle bells to your shoelaces and hoof it through a 5K or 10K route. Runners will charge, trot, walk, run and jingle through the streets and trails of South Riding. Kids (or kids at heart) can join the fun too by participating in the 1 mile fun run! Stick around after the run for hot chocolate bar, breakfast, and prizes!

• Dec. 10: Chase Santa 5K, Round Hill

Boy Scout Troop 2011, in Round Hill, will host the 1st Annual 5k “Chase Santa” Run. All proceeds will go to Boy Scout Troop 2011. The proceeds will go towards scouting activities and purchasing new equipment for the troop.

• Dec. 10: Jingle Bell Run - Loudoun County, Leesburg

Be part of the largest holiday-themed 5K race series anywhere - and join the movement to conquer arthritis!
The Arthritis Foundation’s Jingle Bell Run is a fun way to get out, get moving and raise funds and awareness to cure America’s #1 cause of disability. Wear a holiday-themed costume. Tie jingle bells to your shoelaces. Show off your ugly Christmas sweater. Complete a 5-kilometer run or walk with your team members, spreading smiles, good cheer and a winning spirit … and be a Champion of Yes!

• Dec. 11: Frigid 5K & 10K, Leesburg

In partnership with Toys for Tots. Looking for a scenic race that benefits a great cause just before Christmas? Want to give back to children in need? The races are an out-and-back along the Washington & Old Dominion Trail. A scenic, smooth path… good for setting a personal best time, or just going out for a light jog with some friends! Walkers are welcome to attend this event. Now offering a virtual run option for those who cannot make it on race day. You will receive a custom medal.

• Dec. 31: Ringing In Hope: A New Year's Eve Celebration Run/Walk, Ashburn

By participating in this event, you can help Life With Cancer meet the challenges of those living with cancer by providing patients and their loved ones with education, information and support, free of charge, no matter where they live or receive treatment. You can even Run/Walk on behalf of a loved on by participating in their name.

• Jan. 1: REHAU Rotary Resolution Race, Leesburg

Start the New Year with a challenge! Come to the 20th annual REHAU Rotary Resolution Race in Leesburg, VA on Jan. 1, 2017. Scenic course through the beautiful rolling hills of the historic 1000+ acre Morven Park Estate. Certified 10K course. ChronoTrack B-Tag timing by Amazing Race Timing. All proceeds go to local charities. Over $320,000 has been raised for local charities since 1998.
