6 Loudoun Fire Houses to Host Open Houses in October
Loudoun County's Fire and Rescue Companies will be hosting open houses at 6 stations in October in recognition of Fire Prevention Month.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Mark your calendars! Loudoun County’s Fire and Rescue Companies will be hosting open houses at 6 local stations throughout October in recognition of Fire Prevention Month. Activities at the open houses will focus on fire prevention and community awareness.

Saturday October 8

- Sterling Volunteer Fire Company - 11 am-3 pm (104 Commerce Street, Sterling)
Meet your local firefighters, learn about their organization, and see demonstrations of skills and equipment.
- Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company - 12 pm-4 pm (61 Plaza Street NE, Leesburg)
The open house will be conducted in partnership with Leesburg Police. Activities include: 911 simulator, Sparky the Fire Dog, McGruff the Crime Dog, demonstrations, fire truck rides, Child ID kits, helicopter and food.

Sunday October 9
- Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue – 12 pm-4 pm (12837 Berlin Turnpike, Lovettsville)
Meet Volunteers, see fire trucks, live demonstrations, have fun with the kids, jump on a moon bounce, and have a bite to eat.
Sunday October 16
- Purcellville Volunteer Fire Company - 1 pm-4 pm (500 N. Maple Ave, Purcellville)
PVFC will host its annual open house from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. All residents are invited to partake in the following activities: get a photo with Sparky the Fire dog, practice Stop, Drop, and Roll, Put Out the Fire, firetruck rides, Be a Firefighter Photo Booth, and 911 Simulations. Visit with Smokey the Bear along with his friends from the US Forrest Service. Learn how to use a fire extinguisher, proper care & maintenance of smoke alarms, PPE demonstrations, PVFC supporter merchandise for sale. Visit with one of LCFR Bomb Technician's and his arson dog Dolley. Residents can also tour the Purcellville Safety Center. Live action demonstrations of a Vehicle Extrication at 2:30, and the Ladder Truck Challenge at 3:30.
Purcellville Volunteer Rescue Squad will also be on hand to provide ambulance tours, first aid demonstrations and you can learn how to join the Explorer Program. They will also have hot dogs, chips and drinks available for purchase. Moon bounce and face painting on site.
- Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue – 12 pm-3:45 pm (20688 Ashburn Road, Ashburn)
Stop by for an afternoon with fun for the whole family. Great raffles and sales table - holiday cards, ornaments, and more! Activities include: ambulance tour, bomb detection dog, face painting, macaroni craft lady, moon bounce, legoland, "Jaws of Life" demonstration, station tours, Terry the Traumasaurus, touch the truck, and more! "Safety Beat" offers a fun educational environment for kids to learn safety measures. Visit 4 of 5 safety stops to receive an event t-shirt. Visit all 5 stops and be entered to win a Grand Prize.
Sunday October 23
- Arcola Volunteer Fire and Rescue – 1 pm-4 pm (23675 Belmont Ridge Road, Ashburn)
Stop by for an afternoon of family fun. Activities include: paint the pumpkin, health checks, fire engine rides, station tours, 911 simulator. Don’t miss the Air Care helicopter landing, as well as appearances by Smokey the Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog. Refreshments will be served.
