Algonkian's Got Talent To Showcase Artistic Talent Among Youth
Loudoun Supervisor Juli Briskman kicked off the inaugural Algonkian's Got Talent competition Thursday for young people in her district.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Loudoun County Supervisor Juli Briskman kicked off the inaugural Algonkian’s Got Talent competition Thursday for young people in her Algonkian District. The supervisor said she believes the arts are an integral part of society and help promote understanding of people, places and issues.
Submissions of videos and audio recordings will be accepted on a Google submission form through Oct. 15 and will be judged by a panel of music teachers and local musicians for technical and entertainment value.
The categories include solo instrumental and vocal; group musical act (band or choir); dance (solo, paired, group); and miscellaneous (comedy, spoken word, ventriloquist).

The community also is invited to vote for a “Fan Favorite” on Briskman’s Facebook page. Winners will be announced at a virtual celebration on Nov. 13.
As a young person, Briskman played viola in her school orchestras. She also played for several years in the Loudoun Orchestra Workshop, which was affiliated with and often opened for the Loudoun Symphony.

“I believe these opportunities and artistic outlets should be available for all of Loudoun’s youth, especially during these challenging times,” Briskman said. “And I hope this virtual event will offer an outlet and an additional opportunity for recognition of students’ artistic endeavors.”
Algonkian’s Got Talent is open to young people aged 9-18 who live in or have at least one member of their group that lives in the Algonkian District or attends a school that includes residents assigned from the district such as Seneca Ridge Middle School or Dominion High School.
