Ashburn-Based Kickstarter Makes Personalized Sci-Fi Posters

Mark Flournoy combines a passion for design with a hint of nostalgia in his Kickstarter project, NerdPosters.

“Hello. I’m Mark and I’m a nerd.”

Thus begins part-time illustrator, full-time dad and Ashburn resident Mark Flournoy’s Kickstarter page.

Flournoy’s mission is to bring back to life a collection of vintage 1970s and 80s Sci-Fi designs through minimalist posters and T-shirt prints.

His collection is a “living gallery of user suggestions,” so send over your favorite space ships, weapons, helmets and other TV/movie props for a personalized Flournoy original.

Flournoy’s Kickstarter project will only be funded if at least $900 is pledged by Monday, Oct. 6 at 10:50 a.m. To date, Flournoy has raised more than two-thirds of his goal. Funds will go toward the purchase of a $1,200 Ultrachrome printer for low-volume proofing.
