Ashburn Restaurant Inspections: 16 Violations At 4 Locations

The Loudoun County Health Department found violations at several restaurants in Ashburn and Sterling during their most recent inspections.

ASHBURN, VA — Officials from the Loudoun County Health Department inspected several restaurants across the area from May 12 to May 18, including four locations with violations.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many inspections are being conducted virtually. So, the listed violations may not be an all-encompassing rundown of all the violations at a particular establishment.

Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department also performs a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.

  • Royal Palm Restaurant, 21800 Town Center Plaza #253 Sterling, VA 20164
    • Date inspected: May 12
    • Total violations and corrective actions: 7
    • Violations:
      • Food employee illness reporting agreement (Form 1B) not provided during inspection.
      • Handwashing facilities observed without paper towels in kitchen.
      • Handwashing facility blocked with utensils and paper in dishwashing area.
      • Open bags of raw chicken observed stored next to vegetables in the walk in refrigerator.
      • Several temperature control for safety food registered between 43°F to 44°F in the walk in refrigeration unit.
      • Date marking not provided to all prepared food being held for more than 24 hours in the walk in refrigerators.
      • Large container of milk observed boiling and cooling at room temperature observed. As per the PIC the milk is being used to make yogurt.

      • The person in charge was not able to provide a verifiable employee health policy.
      • Quat sanitizer at the three compartment sink registered at less than 150ppm when tested. Wares at the three compartment sink not sanitized.
