Ashburn Restaurant Inspections: Dairy Queen, Delhi 6 Indian, More

ASHBURN, VA — Local health officials recently inspected food preparation and storage at food establishments in Ashburn and the nearby area. During the last week of inspections, officials found a total of 31 violations at 11 restaurants and five child care food service establishments in the Ashburn area.

Violations noted below included a food grinder machine at Delhi 6 Indian Cuisine with live roaches and food debris inside it, and utensils at Dairy Queen stored beside a bleach container and oven cleaner. Delhi 6 was instructed to make sure food contact surfaces, including food grinders, that are not in use to be kept cleaned and sanitized. The grinder was cleaned at the time of the inspection. Dairy Queen was instructed to store toxic materials such as bleach so that they cannot contaminate food, equipment, utensils and linens.

"In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations," according to Virginia Department of Health's website.
